The steps involved in mounting and knotting beads at SMV

1. Preparing the pearls
The pearls are carefully selected and sorted to guarantee their quality and uniformity.
2. Measuring and cutting wire
The wire used to mount the pearls is measured and cut to the desired length for the jewel.
3. Mounting the beads
The beads are threaded onto the wire according to the planned design. This stage requires great precision to ensure that the beads are arranged evenly and aesthetically.
4. Knotting pearls
To prevent the beads from shifting or getting damaged, a knot is tied between each bead. This involves making a small knot with the thread, ensuring that each bead is held in place. This technique also prevents wear due to friction.
5. Fixing the end caps
The ends of the wire are secured with ferrules or clasps, depending on the type of jewellery and design chosen.
6. Quality control
Each piece of jewellery is meticulously inspected to check the quality of the mounting and knotting. Any potential defects are corrected to guarantee a flawless finished product.
7. Finish
The jewellery is then cleaned and prepared for packaging, ready to be sent to the customer.

3 advantages to beading

Protection
pearls

The knotting between each pearl avoids direct friction, which reduces wear and the risk of scratches, guaranteeing the jewel's greater durability.

Stability
and uniformity

When correctly strung and knotted, the pearls stay in place, ensuring the jewel's uniform, aesthetic appearance.

Preventing pearl loss

In the event of wire breakage or failure, the knots act as barriers to prevent the beads from spilling out, minimising the risk of loss and facilitating any repairs.

Your questions about beading

The knotting between each bead is important to avoid direct friction, which can lead to scratches and damage to the beads. This also ensures that the pearls stay in place and maintains aesthetic uniformity in the jewellery.

The threads used are generally made of silk, nylon or polyester, designed to be strong and durable, yet flexible enough to make mounting the beads easier without damaging them.

The knot between each bead reduces the risk of friction and wear, protecting the beads and extending the life of the jewellery. In the event of wire failure, the knots also prevent the pearls from spilling out, minimising the risk of loss.

In the event of wire breakage, the knots between the beads maintain their integrity, making repairs easier. The beads do not spill, simplifying the repair process and minimising losses.
